Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ He said: "What is then your business, O messengers?" 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 AND IN [the story of Pharaoh and] Moses, too, [We left the same message: for] when We sent him unto Pharaoh with [Our] manifest authority, 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
