He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe of God 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble, pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
