The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
