Have you not seen how those who dispute the signs of God are turned away? 69 Those who reject the Book and that with which We have sent Our Apostle; but they shall soon come to know, 70 When, with (iron) collars and chains around their necks, they will be dragged 71 Through boiling waters; then they are thrust into the Fire. 72 Then it will be said to them: "Where are (all) those whom you used to join in worship as partners 73 They shall say, 'They have gone astray from us; nay, but it was nothing at all that we called upon aforetime.' Even so God leads astray the unbelievers. 74 "This is so because you went about exulting wrongfully in the land," (will they be told), "and you were insolent. 75 “Enter the gates of hell, to remain in it forever”; so what a wretched destination for the haughty! 76 So you persevere with patience (in your mission). The promise of God is true. Whether We show you some of the punishment We have promised them, or gather you up in death, they have to come back to Us. 77 We did aforetime send messengers before thee: of them there are some whose story We have related to thee, and some whose story We have not related to thee. It was not (possible) for any messenger to bring a sign except by the leave of Allah: but when the Command of Allah issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice, and there perished, there and then those who stood on Falsehoods. 78
