Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the daybreak 1 And by ten nights, 2 By the even and odd (contrasted); 3 Consider the night as it runs its course! 4 There surely is an oath for thinking man. 5 Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- 6 [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars, 7 the like of which was never created in the land, 8 and Thamood, who hollowed the rocks in the valley, 9 And (with) Firon, the lord of hosts, 10 (All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands, 11 and exceeded in corruption therein. 12 (Therefore) your Lord let loose upon them a scourge of punishment; 13 surely thy Lord is ever on the watch. 14 And as for man, when his Lord tries him, then treats him with honor and makes him lead an easy life, he says: My Lord honors me. 15 whereas, whenever He tries him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Sustainer has disgraced me!" 16 Nay! but you do not honor the orphan, 17 And urge not on the feeding of the poor. 18 And you devour (others') inheritance greedily, 19 And you love wealth with immense love. 20 Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, 21 when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: 'Would that I had forwarded (good works) for my life!' 24 But on that Day none will punish as He (Allah) will punish, 25 and Allah will bind as none other can bind. 26 'O soul at peace, 27 Return to your Lord well-pleased (with your blissful destination), well-pleasing (to your Lord). 28 And enter among My [righteous] servants 29 And come into My Paradise! 30
