The people of Lut rejected the messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 161 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 (Lot) said: "I am disgusted with your actions," 168 My Lord! deliver me and my household from that which they work. 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
