The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
