Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Reality? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 in an exalted garden 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 and had not known my account. 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
