The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
