The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
