When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
