The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages] ranged in serried ranks, 1 And those who restrain by reprimanding, 2 And by oath of the groups that read the Qur’an. 3 Most surely your Allah is One: 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, and Lord of the easts. 5 Lo! We have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets; 6 And to guard against every rebellious devil. 7 (So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side, 8 and driven away to suffer the necessary torment. 9 But if anyone does succeed in snatching a glimpse [of such knowledge], he shall be pursued by a piercing flame. 10 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “Are they a stronger creation, or are other things of our creation, (the angels, the heavens etc.)?” We have indeed created them from sticky clay. 11 No, you marvel, while they scoff. 12 and when they are reminded [of the truth,] they refuse to take it to heart; 13 and when they become aware of a [divine] message, they turn it to ridicule 14 and say: 'This is nothing but clear sorcery' 15 “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we certainly be raised again?” 16 And our forefathers [as well]?" 17 Say: Aye! and you shall be abject. 18 It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing. 19 They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense." 20 This is the Day of Judgment in which you disbelieved. 21
