The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And the day resplendent 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
