The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
