۞ Before this We gave Abraham his virtue, for We knew him. 51 Abraham asked his father and his people, "What are these statues which you worship?" 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He said: "In fact it was your Lord, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them; and I bear witness to this. 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 They said, "Then bring him here in the sight of all the people, so that they may act as witnesses." 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 "No," he said. "It was done by that chief of theirs. Ask him in case they can speak." 63 Then they thought and observed: "Surely you are yourselves unjust." 64 Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): "Indeed you [Ibrahim (Abraham)] know well that these (idols) speak not!" 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said, "Burn him to ashes if you want to help your gods". 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 AND UNTO Lot, too, We vouchsafed sound judgment and knowledge [of right and wrong,] and saved him from that community which was given to deeds of abomination. [We destroyed those people - for,] verily, they were people lost in evil, depraved 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
