The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
