Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
