The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and serried acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
