The Thamud (people) rejected the messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 142 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 143 so fear God and obey me. 144 And I ask of you no hire therefor; MY hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 145 Do you think that you will be left secure [forever] -- 146 amidst gardens and fountains, 147 And corn-fields and palm-trees whereof the spathes are fine? 148 “And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?” 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 "And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,- 151 those who spread corruption on earth instead of setting things to rights!" 152 They said: You are only of the deluded ones; 153 You are naught but a mortal like ourselves; so bring a sign if you are one of the truthful. 154 He said: 'Here is a shecamel. She shall have her share of water as you have yours on an appointed day. 155 Do not cause her to suffer lest you become subject to the torment of the great day (of Judgment)." 156 But they killed her, and then they became regretful. 157 And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 158 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 159

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
