In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment - 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
