The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
