The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
