The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow in virtue? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
