The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 The piercing star! 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
