The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He verily will be content. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
