The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
