In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Indeed We shall soon ordain a heavy responsibility upon you. 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
