The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to the diminishers, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
