Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city. 1 And you are free (from sin, to punish the enemies of Islam on the Day of the conquest) in this city (Makkah). 2 and [I call to witness] parent and offspring: 3 We have indeed created man surrounded by hardships. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? 10 But he would not attempt the uphill road, 11 And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 or the feeding in times of famine 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 The Fire will be shut over them (i.e. they will be enveloped by the Fire without any opening or window or outlet. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
