Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mankind, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 From the guilty. 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, everyone of them desires that he should be given pages spread out (coming from Allah with a writing that Islam is the right religion, and Muhammad SAW has come with the truth from Allah the Lord of the heavens and earth, etc.). 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
