The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
