The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They deny the truth and follow their own whims, every matter has its appointed time, 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
