The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
