The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount; 1 By the book inscribed. 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 “Enter it now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
