Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 You cannot frustrate Him in the earth; you have no protector nor helper against Allah. 31 Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His. 32 and if He wills, He stills the wind, and they remain motionless on its back. Surely in that are signs for every man enduring, thankful. 33 or He may cause them to founder because of people's misdeeds, He pardons many of them, 34 Let those who dispute Our signs know that there is no way of escape for them. 35 Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord: 36 And those who shun the great sins and indecencies, and whenever they are angry they forgive. 37 And those who have responded to their lord and established prayer and whose affair is [determined by] consultation among themselves, and from what We have provided them, they spend. 38 And those who, when great wrong afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers. 40 But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame. 41 The way is only open against those who do wrong to the people, and are insolent in the earth wrongfully; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 42 But he who bears with patience and forgives, surely complies with divine resolve. 43
