Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 and that [we were mistaken when] we thought that neither man nor [any of] the invisible forces would ever tell a lie about God. 5 And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. 6 Those people thought, like you, that God would never send down a Messenger. 7 And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur'an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors. 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 We do not know if this means ill for the dwellers of the earth, or their Lord wishes guidance for them. 10 Just as [we do not know how it happens] that some from among us are righteous, while some of us are [far] below that: we have always followed widely divergent paths. 11 and that “we thought that we will neither be able to frustrate Allah on earth, nor frustrate Him by flight”; 12 'And as for us, since we have listened to the Guidance, we have accepted it: and any who believes in his Lord has no fear, either of a short (account) or of any injustice. 13 And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; 14 but those who have deviated shall become the fuel of Gehenna (Hell). 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 That We might try them there by. And whosoever turneth aside from the remembrance of his Lord, him He shall thrust into a torment vehement. 17 And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. 18 And when the bondman of Allah stood calling upon Him, they well nigh pressed on him stifling. 19
