The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 two bows' length away, or nearer, 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
