The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners. 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The nation of Lot belied Our warnings. 33 [and so,] behold, We let loose upon them a deadly tempest; and only Lot 's kinsfolk did We save at the break of dawn, 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Lot warned them against Our torment, but they persistently disputed it. 36 and even demanded that he give up his guests [to them]: whereupon We deprived them of their sight [and thus told them, as it were]: "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
