The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise and warn, 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and children living in his presence, 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he thought; 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
