He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And hath fear, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyous 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
