The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
