Do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We will give sustenance to all of you. To kill them is certainly a great sin. 31 And come not near to the unlawful sexual intercourse. Verily, it is a Fahishah [i.e. anything that transgresses its limits (a great sin)], and an evil way (that leads one to Hell unless Allah forgives him). 32 Do not take life which God has made inviolate -- except by right. If anyone is killed wrongfully, We have given authority to his heirs to demand retribution, but let them not transgress the prescribed limits in exacting retribution; for then he will be assisted [by the law]. 33 Come not near the wealth of the orphan save with that which is better till he come to strength; and keep the covenant. Lo! of the covenant it will be asked. 34 And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with an even balance. That is the best [way] and best in result. 35 Do not follow what you do not know. The hearing, sight and heart about all these you shall be questioned. 36 Do not walk proudly on the earth. You cannot cleave the earth, nor can you rival the mountains in height. 37 The wickedness of each of that is hateful to your Lord. 38 This is some of the wisdom your Lord has revealed to you. So do not take another god apart from God, or you will be cast into Hell, reproved, ostracised. 39 Hath your Lord then distinguished you (O men of Makka) by giving you sons, and hath chosen for Himself females from among the angels? Lo! verily ye speak an awful word! 40
