۞ Before this We gave Abraham his virtue, for We knew him. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images, to which you are devoted?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 By Allah, I will certainly outwit your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone' 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 They said: "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may testify." 61 They said: art thou the one who hath wrought this unto our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He said: But this, their chief hath done it. So question them, if they can speak. 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense? 67 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said to the fire, "Be cool and peaceful (with Abraham)". 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lot (and brought them) to the land which We have blessed for (all) peoples. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
