The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
