The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
(All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and did not make in it any crookedness. 1 (But hath made it) straight, to give warning of stern punishment from Him, and to bring unto the believers who do good works the news that theirs will be a fair reward, 2 wherein they shall abide for ever; 3 And it (the Koran) warns those who say: 'Allah has taken a son' 4 They have no knowledge of this, nor did their forefathers have any either. What they say is monstrous: they are merely uttering falsehoods! 5 Then maybe you will kill yourself with grief, sorrowing after them, if they do not believe in this announcement. 6 We have appointed all that is on the earth for an adornment for it, and that We may try which of them is fairest in works; 7 Verily what is on earth we shall make but as dust and dry soil (without growth or herbage). 8 Or, do you think that the Fellows of the Cave and the Inscription were of Our wonderful signs? 9 (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" 10 So We prevented them from hearing in the cave for a number of years. 11 Thereafter We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best at reckoning the time that they had tarried. 12
