We verily created man and We know what his soul whispereth to him, and We are nearer to him than his jugular vein. 16 Behold! when the two receivers receive - one on the right hand and one on the left a sitter. 17 Not a word does he utter but there is a sentinel by him, ready (to note it). 18 And the stupor of death will come in truth; that is what you were trying to escape. 19 The trumpet will certainly be sounded. This will be the day (about which you) were threatened. 20 And every soul shall come, with it a driver and a witness. 21 “You were indeed neglectful of this, so We have removed the veil for you, and your eyesight is sharp this day.” 22 And his accompanying angel said, “This is the record of your deeds, available with me.” 23 (It will be said): 'Indeed, cast into Gehenna (Hell) every deviating unbeliever, 24 Hinderer of good, transgressor, doubter, 25 "Who set up another god beside Allah: Throw him into a severe penalty." 26 ۞ Man's other self' will say: "O our Sustainer! It was not I that led his conscious mind into evil [nay,] but it had gone far astray [of its own accord]! 27 Allah will say: "Dispute not in front of Me, I had already, in advance, sent you the threat. 28 The Word is not changed with Me; I wrong not My servants.' 29
