▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 it is a warning to man, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
