The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the close of night, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
