The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
