The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave, and hath not placed therein any crookedness, 1 [He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward 2 They will abide therein for ever. 3 And to warn those who say, "Allah has taken a son." 4 Surely, of this they have no knowledge, neither they nor their fathers; it is a monstrous word that comes from their mouths, they say nothing but a lie. 5 Yet perchance, if they do not believe in this tiding, you will consume yourself with grief and follow after them. 6 We have caused earthly things to seem attractive so that We can see who will excel in good deeds. 7 and, verily, [in time] We shall reduce all that is on it to barren dust! 8 Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder? 9 When the young men sought refuge in the cave, they said, "Our Lord, grant us Your special mercy and give us right guidance in our affair." 10 So We cast [a cover of sleep] over their ears within the cave for a number of years. 11 Thereafter We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best at reckoning the time that they had tarried. 12
